Shopping spree

Barrowford woman Sarah Williams is looking forward to a shopping spree after winning £300 of High Street vouchers in a draw held by Pendleside Hospice to promote the forthcoming Girls Night Out event.

Every woman who registered to take part in Girls Night Out by midnight on Monday, May 19th went into a draw, with Sarah’s being the lucky walker number that was chosen.

Sarah is taking part in the Girls Night Out with her daughter and they both say they are walking to thank the hospice for the care that Sarah’s father is currently receiving from Pendleside.

Sarah and her daughter will join up to 1,000 other women at the Girls Night Out event on Friday, July 11th. The event follows in the footsteps of the hugely successful Midnight Walk event, which has raised in excess of £900,000 for Pendleside Hospice in the past five years and at its peak saw more than 2,300 ladies walk up to 8 miles starting at midnight to raise funds.

The Girls Night Out doesn’t involve such a late night and will start at 8pm from Burnley Football Club. The women will walk a route of 10k (six miles) before returning to the football club for a complimentary pie and peas supper and live entertainment, all held inside the James Hargreaves Suite. There will also be a licensed bar available.

Places for the event are becoming limited but you can still join the party of the year by registering online at www.pendleside.org.uk at a cost of £10 per person, which includes entertainment and pie and peas on the night of the event, a personalised sponsor pack and a Girls Night Out t-shirt.

Girls Night Out is sponsored by Charter Walk Shopping Centre, Burnley and Alderson and Horan Funeral Services.

“Over the years our ladies only events have raised such a fantastic amount of money for Pendleside which is used to provide care that is relied upon by so many in our community.

“By taking part in this event you are making a real difference to local families whose lives have been devastated by the diagnosis of a life limiting illness.”
