It was a biscuit beauty experience for the Mayor of Pendle when he visited a key Pendle food firm and had a look round.

Mayor Coun. Smith Benson had a tour round the Farmhouse Biscuits plant on Brook Street, Nelson, which has recently been expanded.

He was shown round by managing director Mr Philip McIvor, who launched the firm.

Coun. Benson said: “It was absolutely brilliant. It was very busy there and we got some samples - I was very impressed!

“It’s nice to have a firm like that locally and we want some more, as well, to create jobs. All the business visits I’ve made have been very positive. It is encouraging.”

So the mayor thanked the firm for giving him a good tour and good samples of biscuits.

The firm started life in a Pendle farm before moving to Brook Street Mill. It now has more than 200 employees.
