Burnley’s showpiece £4.5m. Woodland Spa has been voted the best in Britain – just one year after opening.
The complex, part of the Crow Wood leisure centre, was named Day Spa Of The Year at the prestigious Professional Beauty Awards 2014 in London this week.
Woodland Spa beat off a host of high-profile, top-name spas nationally to claim the crown for Burnley.
The news comes on the back of Burnley being named the Most Enterprising Area in Britain 2013 and is further evidence that the town is making major strides in changing the national perception of it.
Delighted managing director Mr Andrew Brown, who has been a passionate supporter of his home town, told the Express: “We are very proud of what we have created and we’re very proud that we’ve created it here in Burnley, Lancashire, in the north of England.
“We are staunch supporters of the town and are pleased we are helping to place Burnley in a positive light.”
Spa manager Karen Ashworth is naturally thrilled about the award and said: “We believe we’re delivering the most luxurious and indulgent experience here in the north of England. We’ve fought off competition from long-established spas the length and breadth of the country, one of which is the largest day spa in the UK.”
Plans to introduce additiional overnight accommodation facilities at the spa have also been unveiled.
