PLANS to build a new sports pavilion on the site of a former high school go before councillors on Monday night.
Pendle Council’s Nelson Committee is recommended to approve the development at the former Edge End High School in Hibson Road.
The plans involve a building 13m wide, 33.2m long and 5m high which would house six football changing rooms, a club room, kitchen, mess room and toilets with 10 solar cells on its roof.
Planning officer Helen Garnett says in a report to the meeting: “The proposed changing room facilities would be substantial in scale. However, Hibson Road generally has a built up frontage, therefore a building on this site would not be at odds with its surroundings.
“While the development would likely encourage use of the playing fields, the additional comings and goings would not be significant enough to have an adverse impact on the amenity of neighbouring properties.”
