A Barnoldswick cake artist couple helped draw people to the carnival when they created several creations for a roadshow event.
Prize-winning bakers Richard and Helen Waddington were invited to submit designs for the latest Cake International event at the NEC in Birmingham at the weekend.
Artists Helen and Richard, who have their For Goodness Cake business, contributed a strong man, a circus dog balancing on a ball and a Victorian circus lady using a wire armature at the exhibition named the Greatest Cake Carnival on Earth. The cakes will also be shown in London next month.
Helen also bagged a bronze medal in a competition for a red setter puppy creation sleeping on a cushion with a teddy.
Helen said: “The carnival was amazing and so well received. We had people coming through three or four times and the pieces have now been lovingly packed off to Alexandra Palace for April’s show.
“I received a bronze medal for my dog cake, but it was all about the carnival this time really.
“There were queues all weekend as people marvelled at the circus room, the fairground at night and the haunted house.
“Our team Sugar Show Productions pulled together once again to deliver a high quality show with the atmosphere to accompany it. We will be back at the NEC in November with a new enchanted exhibit and we cannot wait!”
