Have your say

An elderly man wants the Burnley public’s help in putting a name to a photograph of a First World War soldier.

Mr Peter Jones, who lives in Sidmouth, Devon, wrote to the Express asking for help.

He said: “The photo was found in my late parents’ belongings. I can see that the solider was a corporal but other than that I have no idea who he was.

“On the back it says ‘yours sincerely, Will’ and the photo was sent to ‘Aunt Bella’.

“If anyone can say who is in the photo I would be very pleased to hear from them.”

Mr Jones’ grandparents lived at 19 Stafford Street in Burnley and his aunt Susanna was licensee of the Reedley Hallows pub for 38 years until 1938.

If anyone knows the identity of the soldier they can write to Mr Jones at Green Close Care Home, Drakes Avenue, Sidmouth, Devon, EX10 9UF or email peterfordjones@hotmail.co.uk.
