Police are appealing for information after £6,000 was stolen from a Burnley Spar.

The incident happened at around 7-10am on Saturday at the Spar store in Padiham Road.

A lone offender entered the store, jumped over the counter and grabbed the cash as it was being handed over for collection.

The offender made off on foot down Middlesex Avenue, towards Sycamore Avenue.

Det Sgt Tom Edmondson, of Burnley CID, said: “The offender managed to get away with almost £6,000 and this is clearly unacceptable.

“We are determined to find them and bring them to justice.

“We believe someone may have seen this person acting suspiciously outside the store in the moments before the theft, or someone may have information that could help us identify them.

“We would urge anyone who can help with our enquiries to get in touch.”

The offender is described as a man, wearing dark clothing, with his face covered by a hood.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting log number 311 of April 30th.

Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at Crimestoppers-uk.org.
