A church is offering people who cannot spend Christmas with their loved ones a chance to let them know they are thinking about them.

The "Lights of Love" project has been introduced for the first time at Christ Church in Keighley Road, Colne. People can buy a bulb that will be lit on the Christmas tree on display outside the church.

Each one costs £5 and a Christmas card will be sent to each of the people the light is being lit for to let them know their loved ones are thinking of them.

The idea was introduced by new parishioner Mrs Janet Blaauw who has brought the idea from Holland, her home for the past 20 years. A native of Yorkshire she returned to England 18 months ago and has settled in Laneshaw Bridge.

The Lights launch ceremony will be held on (Friday, December 2nd) at 7-30pm and the annual Christmas Tree festival takes place at the church on Saturday from 10am to 4pm and on Sunday between 1pm and 4pm.

Anyone who would like to buy one of the bulbs can do so throughout December. For details of how to do this contact Janet on 07763514407.
