A CHILDREN’S play area in Colne has been targeted by vandals.

Over £300 worth of damage has been caused at Colne Children’s Centre, in Walton Street, after offenders gained entry to its play area by climbing over a wooden fence.

A water feature worth £300 was pulled out of the ground, and thrown onto the floor. It is not fixable.

Plant pots, and plants, were also kicked about, and £20 worth of damage was caused to the fence.

Sgt. Shaun Pearson said: “Due to the amount of damage caused, we feel people have been there for some time. The security company are now discussing lighting and security, but that will mean added expense.”
