POLICE closed a busy Colne road on Wednesday afternoon following reports that a vehicle had overturned.
Barrowford Road was closed for 20 minutes, between the Alkincoats Road and Parker Street junctions while police, fire and rescue and ambulance crews dealt with the incident. It transpired a man had been travelling along Whitewalls Drive, when he was overtaken by another vehicle and forced into an emergency braking manoeuvre.
Police said when he arrived at his home and reported his car had nearly been turned over, his message was misunderstood, leading to the large turn out of emergency personnel and the road closure.
The man was taken to hospital for treatment for shock but not detained.
