Colne has seen its football season kicked off in style – with the unveiling of a new clubhouse.
Developed as part of a £1.85 million programme to create three new sports pavilions across Pendle, the facility at Holt House was officially opened by the Mayor of Pendle, Coun. Smith Benson.
The building includes eight self-contained changing rooms, a community club room, changing rooms for match officials, toilets, a special changing room and toilet for the disabled, storage and a mess room for the attendant. The previous building had been deemed to be in a poor state of repair.
Coun. Nadeem Ahmed, Pendle Council Executive member for parks and recreation, said: “The aim of the redevelopment project was to provide three modern pavilion buildings that are accessible to everyone and meet the needs of the teams that will use them.”
Chris Hogan, from the XLCR Pendle Charity League, said: “The new facilities at Holt House are worlds apart from those we’ve been using for many years.”
