A “HAZARDOUS” Colne pavement has been levelled to ensure disabled shoppers can access Shackleton Hall safely.
Coun. Ian Tweedie called for action after being contacted by a wheelchair-bound resident.
He said that because of the gradient of the pavement, entry to the newly refurbished hall was “difficult, hazardous and almost impossible”.
As a result, wheelchairs would often skew round and fall over at the upper entrance to the Church Street site.
Coun. Tweedie added: “It’s easy for us to overlook the problems faced by disabled people, but I was astonished that this prestigious refurbishment project had failed to accommodate them gaining access to the shopping mall.”
