A diverse selection of entries were shared across the five categories of “article”, “short story”, “poetry”, “descriptive prose” and “children’s story”. And a children’s competition was also held.

The afternoon, which included a prize presentation, buffet and readings, has been hailed a huge success by those in attendance. Member Gillian Herbert said: “It was absolutely great and went really really well. The children were delightful, and although they had a little room of their own to have a party they came back in to listen to the adults.
