Barrowford man (55) accused of defrauding Masons

A FORMER treasurer of a Blackburn Masonic Lodge has appeared in court charged with dishonesty to the tune of £6,000.

Ian Llewellyn (55), who is also a past Worshipful Master of Loyalty Lodge 4819, will have his case heard at Burnley Crown Court, Pennine magistrates decided.

He was bailed until September 27th for committal proceedings.

The defendant is accused of fraud by abuse of position at Barnoldswick, between November, 2007, and July, 2011.

It is alleged he dishonestly abused his post as the lodge treasurer intending to make a monetary gain for himself.

Llewellyn also faces an allegation of theft from the person of another, at Barnoldswick, on February 20th last year.

He is accused of stealing £1,000, belonging to Loyalty Lodge 4819 charity account.

The defendant, of Holden Close, Barrowford, did not give any indication of plea.
