Five Burnley fans were arrested as police prevented an organised brawl in Cumbria.
The fight was due to take place after the Clarets’ 4-1 away win in a friendly against Carlisle United on Saturday.
Five Clarets supporters and one Carlisle fan were arrested in the city centre to stop trouble erupting.
Supt Mark Pannone said: “Due to positive, preventative policing tactics, disorder was prevented in Carlisle city centre.
“A fight was being arranged between opposing fans and Cumbria Constabulary acted to prevent such an incident from happening.” The fans were to be quizzed and banning orders could be sought.
