DETECTIVES are appealing for information following a burglary at a building society at Barrowford.
Police were alerted this morning by staff at the Marsden Building Society, Gisburn Road, that the property had been broken into over the weekend and damage caused inside and a safe containing a substantial amount of money stolen.
The break-in happened between noon on Saturday (June 1st) when staff closed the building for the weekend and just before 9am this morning when they opened again.
Police are investigating and are appealing for anyone who saw anything suspicious over the weekend to get in touch.
Det Insp Marie Haworth, of Burnley CID, said: “This was clearly a reasonably sophisticated break-in as the offenders have managed to make off with a safe from inside the building. I would appeal for anyone who has seen any suspicious activity over the weekend to get in touch with us.”
Anyone with information should call police on 101 quoting log number 251 of today (June 3rd) or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
