Police hunt man who exposed himself to teenage girls

Detectives are appealing for information after a man exposed himself to two teenagers in Burnley.

The incident took place around 7pm on Sunday on a canal tow path close to the ATS Garage in Healey Wood Road.

Two girls, aged 13 and 14, had entered the pathway when they noticed a man drinking from a can and smoking.

The pair continued towards Hollingreave Road, before the same man cycled past the teenagers and stopped.

As both girls neared him, he exposed himself, before making off from the scene.

The victims left the area and contacted police.

The man is described as white, in his 30s to 40s, of medium build with scruffy dark hair. He was wearing a dark hooded top, dark denim jeans and carrying a dark ruck sack. He was riding a dark mountain bike.

Detectives are appealing for information following the incident and are keen to speak to anyone who recognises the man described.

Det. Sgt Tim Brown, of Burnley CID, said: “This was a particularly unpleasant incident which left two girls shocked and upset.

“We want to find the man involved as quickly as possible and are appealing for the public’s help.

“We are particularly keen to talk to anyone who was in the canal tow path area around the time of the offence.

“It is believed the suspect was smoking and drinking from a can while a good description has been provided by the victims in this investigation.

“I would urge anyone with information to come forward.”
