Police are continuing their investigations after a giant rabbit was suspected of being kicked to death in Earby last Thursday night.
Edward, a two-and-a-half-year-old British giant rabbit, was found bleeding from its mouth on Goodall Close, Earby, and died later having had a seizure.
Kim Gouldsbrough, Edward’s owner, said he had escaped from the garden where she and her three children live in nearby Green End Avenue.
She added the family is devastated by what has happened saying: “Edward wasn’t a normal rabbit. We let him wander down the street and the kids loved him. They to dress him up and push him around in a pram. The whole community knew Edward.
“He was such a friendly rabbit and didn’t know anything else. I can’t believe anybody could do that, it’s disgusting.”
Police are in consultation with the RSPCA before deciding what to do and the rabbit has undergone a post-mortem to establish the cause of death.
