A NELSON man has proved every dog does have its day after walking away with a top prize at the country’s leading dog show, dfs Crufts.
Owner Brian Middleton and Kris, a seven-year-old Norwegian Elkhound, showed nerves of steel along with Kris, beating off competition from 64 other entries to scoop the coveted best of breed prize before going on to compete for best in group.
Kris was among 21,500 healthy, happy dogs at Crufts, presented by the Kennel Club, and claimed the prestigious awards at Birmingham’s NEC.
Mr Middleton, of Edge End Lane, said: “We’ve won best of breed with Kris four times before but he’s still going strong and we were delighted to win after another long day.
“There were a lot of dogs in our breed so the competition was very stiff and we were delighted to be picked.
“Kris has always been a show off and Crufts is the biggest occasion of them all for dogs so he loves every minute of it.”
