Police and the RSPCA found a dead rabbit while conducting a warrant in Colne.
PC Nigel Keates, PCSO Trish Thompson, and RSPCA Inspector Taylor visited premises in the Vivary Bridge ward following a tip-off from a member of the public.
They discovered two rabbits, one alive and one dead. A post-mortem will now be carried out to establish the cause of death.
PC Nigel Keates said: “Acting on a tip off from a member of the public the RSPCA contacted police in order to assist and secure the seizure of evidence in relation to a possible offence under the Animal Welfare Act 2006.
“The RSPCA will be the lead agency in establishing what, if any, offences can be proven. Investigations are ongoing and no further comments will released until investigations are complete.
“In Colne, we have a fantastic relationship with the RSPCA, and work in partnership with them.”
