An Earby man dropped the drink in January and raised more than £600 for charity in doing so.

Tony Rothwell, of Grove Street, decided to complete a Dryathlon during the first month of the year and raised a fantastic £635 for Pendleside Hospice through his no drinking challenge.

Tony said: “In February, 2014 I lost my dad, Stephen Rothwell, to cancer. Dad spent a number of weeks in Pendleside Hospice over Christmas period in 2013.

“The facilities that the hospice provides together with the care and attention given by the dedicated staff helped greatly in what was a very difficult time for my family.”
