A saw or knife appears to have been used to hack off body parts of the animal springies and emergency repairs have had to be carried out to make them safe to use again.

Coun. Mike Goulthorp said: “We have had a number of incidents up there where springs have been broken but this is the first time this has happened.

“Someone has taken a hack saw and cut off parts of the animals.

“We’re so angry about it. I’ve had people who use the play area knocking at my door upset about it.

“It’s just so very annoying because they have just been brought up to spec as well.

“I just hope a bit of publicity will trigger somebody coming forward with information about it.”

Anybody with information is asked to report it to the police by calling 101.
