Children from St Paul’s CE Primary School in Nelson have been taking care of the environment around them.

The school’s Eco Warriors, with members from Pick up for Pendle, have taken part in the “Clean for the Queen” campaign in the run up to Her Majesty’s 90th birthday in April.

Pupils have been out armed with litter pickers and black bin bags, scooping up all the litter around the school and on the Hard Platts. The children’s eagerness to clean up saw them collect a staggering 16 bin bags full of rubbish.

The campaign has seen the country’s litter charities come together to attack the blight of litter and tidy beaches, the countryside, cities, parks and waterways.
