A Barnoldswick nursery is celebrating a second successive “outstanding” Ofsted report.

Pendle Nursery in Fountain Street has been rated “outstanding” in every area of inspection; effectiveness of the leadership and management; quality of teaching, learning and assessment; personal development, behaviour and welfare and outcomes for children.

This shows we are amongst the top in the country and we will ensure that we keep these high standards

The nursery was visited by Ofsted in May and a glowing report has followed that inspection.

The inspector, Michelle Britch, said: “Teaching is excellent. Staff provide children with a rich, stimulating and exciting learning environment, both indoors and outdoors.

“Key persons are exceptionally sensitive. Babies and young children form strong emotional attachments and feel very secure within the nursery.

“All children are active and independent learners and are extremely well prepared for their move on to school.”

The nursery’s management team was also praised by the inspector for its rigorous monitoring of teaching quality and its progress checks on children’s development, while the “superb partnership” work with parents and other professionals “to provide consistency and continuity in children’s learning and development” was also acknowledged.

On maintaining the high standards, the report stated that staff needed to continue to be supported “with targeted training and professional development that promotes consistently high-quality teaching and learning”.

Manager Lisa Beckwith: “Pendle Nursery is excited and delighted to announce that it has achieved an Ofsted outstanding status for the second time.

“In the last two Ofsted inspections, 2009 and our latest in May, the nursery was found to be outstanding in every area.

“We have an exceptionally strong nursery team, and to be recognised as an ‘outstanding’ nursery is a tribute to the hard work and commitment of all our staff, who go the extra mile to ensure everyone achieves their best.

“This shows we are amongst the top in the country and we will ensure that we keep these high standards.

“We have worked hard to ensure that not only have we kept our outstanding rating, but we have developed even further, by introducing a fantastic outdoor learning space for the children to explore.”
