Rumours that a Barnoldswick Primary School headteacher has been dismissed from her position have been quashed this week.

Melanie Darcy, who is headteacher at Barnoldswick CE Primary School in York Street, has been on “personal leave” since the summer.

A Lancashire County Council spokesman this week confirmed that was still the situation and she had not been sacked from the role she has held from September 2006.

Meanwhile, Rebecca Moulden has been put in the position of acting headteacher in Mrs Darcy’s absence.

The school is set to move to a new two-form entry building around Easter next year which is currently being built behind West Craven Sports Centre off Kelbrook Road.
