‘Enough is enough’ as Colne home blights street

Vivary Bridge ward Councillor Joe Cooney has once again called for action to be taken to deal with 55 Parker Street, Colne, which continues to be blight on the neighbourhood.

The latest steps taken by Pendle Council saw a court hearing last month where the owners were charged with failure to comply with a Section 79 Building Act Notice.

The notice can require the owner to execute works of repair or restoration and take such steps as may be necessary in the interests of amenity.

The owners failed to attend and were fined £440 with £260 costs in their absence.

Coun. Cooney said: “While I welcome the action taken so far it doesn’t get us any closer to the property being repaired and brought back into use.

“The owners are blatantly ignoring the council’s instruction.

“I’ve asked officers to obtain quotes to go in and carry out the necessary work and then recharge the owners. Enough is enough and we need to deal with this eyesore in a timely manner.’
