Barnoldswick firefighters had a hectic Saturday as they hosted the first of two charity car washes this year.

Crew members used their hoses for different reasons as the Wellhouse Road station became a drive through destination for dousing vehicles of all shapes and sizes.

Despite dashing off to a time-consuming call out during the four hour stint, the crew still managed to clean 35 cars in the morning raising £180 for the Fire Fighters Charity.

They even packed up slightly early through being washed out as a weary crew member Rick Waller explained: “We had an automated call out which took time from the wash unfortunately as we were operational at the time.

“It was quiet at first but we ended up shutting the doors half an hour early as we were dead on hour feet. It was great though and thank you for the very good response.”
