A new Garden of Remembrance has been officially opened by the Mayor of Pendle, Coun. Graham Roach.

Situated at the bottom end of Colne Cemetery, the garden has spaces that Pendle people can use to pour or scatter the ashes of family members.

It offers a less expensive option to other forms of memorial, and gives relatives a calm and peaceful area to visit to pay their respects.

Coun. Roach said: “The opening went very well, and I think the garden is a marvellous place to allow people to scatter ashes and to sit and contemplate their loved ones.

“It looks really good, and I am really pleased with it.

“There are dropped kerbs so that people in wheelchairs can get to the centre and sit there as well, which is really good.”
