a SIX-MONTH sponsored slim by two Colne men has raised more than £500 for Pendleside Hospice.

Ian Gardner and John Hird both from Colne decided it was time to lose some weight in June last year, while raising money for the hospice at the same time.

The slim ran through until December and saw the pair lose a combined total of just over five stones which they are hoping to increase as they continue with their new healthy lifestyle!

Ian said: “Thank you to everyone especially my colleagues at Silent Night and members of the Colne Royal British Legion who sponsored both me and John for taking in our sponsored slim. We are very proud to have raised the money for Pendleside Hospice.”

Fund-raising is vital to keep the hospice running. A grant from the local Primary Care Trust provides approximately 30% of the running costs, but the balance over £2.35 million is raised locally.

If like Ian and John you would like to take part in a sponsored event in aid of Pendleside Hospice, contact Lisa Riding on 440140 or email lisa.riding@pendleside.org.uk
