Three Nelson families started the New Year by welcoming new arrivals.
The bundles of joy were born to mums at the Lancashire Women and Newborn Centre at Burnley General Hospital.
Stacey Foley (26) and her partner David Thompson welcomed their second child, a daughter, who is yet to be named, at 3-33am on New Year’s Day. The baby, who weighed 7lb. 11oz., is a little sister for six-year-old Lexie. Care assistant Stacey, of Cravendale Avenue, said: “Lexie is really excited to meet her. I think she was the second baby born here on New Year’s Day. I’m sure she’ll enjoy going out on New Year’s Eve when she’s older and seeing in the New Year and her birthday.”
Also celebrating a new arrival were proud first-time parents Afsha Bibi (30) and Muhammad Rizwan (24), of Smith Street, in Nelson. They welcomed baby daughter Eemaan Noor at 10-01am, weighing in at 6lb. 9oz. Muhammad said: “We are very happy.”
His wife, who gave birth to Eemaan after a five-day labour, added: “Life will be totally different now, I’m looking forward to going home.”
They were joined by new parents Hayley and Krys Connors, of Lomeshaye. They were delighted to say hello to son George who weighed 8lb. 3oz. The little boy, who was due on December 21st, was born at 10-50pm. The couple are both 25 and work at Protec Fire and Security in Nelson. Hayley said: “I’m tired and sore but very happy. He wasn’t for coming out.”
