After the tragic death of toddler Bradley James Collier, the Lord Nelson pub is hosting a Valentine’s Day event to raise funds for his headstone.
Bradley from Nelson was just 16 months old when he lost his life in October.
His mum Jamie Lowe Smith’s cousin Emma Allardice is organising the Lord Nelson event which will take place on Friday, February 14th.
She explained: “Bradley was born with a hole in his heart. He was just 16 months old when he died in October. “We were greatly saddened to lose Bradley. He was a very happy, beautiful boy.”
He had his first surgery when he was just four weeks old and was poorly throughout his brief life. He has been buried at Nelson Cemetery in Walton Lane.
Emma (26), of Beaufort Street, Nelson, said: “One man – Gav Hollinrake – is doing a sponsored walk up Pendle Hill - eight times in an hour!
“And three brothers –Jamie’s cousins – are doing sponsored body wax at the Lord Nelson that night, and there will be sponsored fancy dress, too. There will also be a raffle and auction.
“We want to get as many people as possible to come along here. It will be £3 per ticket.”
Emma is working with the pub’s landlord, Phil Hardcastle, to get people along and she said: “We’ve had the event sponsored by a local business - Loud Marketing – which is an online business. We’ve already had loads of nominations from different businesses.”
And she added: “The whole family will be pulling together.”
Tickets can be booked in advance at the pub, and donations or offers of help can be made to Emma via her full name on Facebook.
The event will start at 8pm
