Seedhill Athletics and Fitness Centre in Nelson is to become a one-stop helth and fitness shop where your Change for Life is about to begin.
Run by Pendle Leisure Trust’s Healthy Lifestyles Team and health and exercise professionals, the Surrey Road facility will deliver two programmes that can change your life.
Working with East Lancs NHS and the national Change 4 Life campaign, the programmes are available to anyone aged over 16 from Monday.
They are based around the two main reasons why people want to change the way they live.
Weight Loss 4 Life - a healthy weight management programme of supervised exercise, nutritional advice and mini lifestyle challenges to help you make life-long changes to lose weight and feel fabulous, and Active 4 Life - a programme of supervised exercise, healthy eating and lifestyle advice to help you achieve a healthier and happier balance in your life.
The programme is perfect for people who want to get back into regular activity or overcome health problems and gain a better lifestyle balance.
Catering for all levels and abilities, the team will help participants to eat healthily, take part in exercise classes and activity-led sessions based in and around Seedhill.
They will get involved in indoor and outdoor activities, including cycling, walking, Nordic Walking and instructor-led exercise classes on the track, in the gym and at the near-by park.
They will also attend the trust’s community allotment to look at growing and preparing their own food.
As well as all this, there will be free activities such as aquarhythmics, tai-chi, pilates and yoga at Pendle Wavelengths and Pendle Leisure Centre.
There are different sessions for different people, and those who cannot make it to Seedhill can do classes at their nearest trust facility.
The trust’s Healthy Lifestyles Manager, Clive Escreet, said: “We are opening this centre to cater for the two main reasons why people want to change the way they live. We will be providing two challenging and exciting programmes. But they are not quick-fixes, they are life-long changes.
“We will be offering a daytime programme of activities and education to anyone who wants to lose weight or improve their health or become more active.
“Basically we will have everything they need all under one roof. It’s all about eating well, moving more and living longer!”
