An Earby man has gone short on top raising a trim amount for a West Craven cancer charity in the process.

William Eastham had his close shave at The Cutting Room in Barnoldswick when proprietor Judith Greenwood wielded the scissors and shaver and got to work removing his huge afro.

The Silentnight upholsterer has been doing the rounds getting pledges from colleagues, family and friends and has raised in excess of £700 for the Bosom Friends cancer support charity.

William (19) said: “It’s a bit breezy on top now and I’m a bit light headed!

“I wanted to do something for the charity as one of my nan’s friends has cancer and a friend’s mum recently passed away with cancer.

“That spurred me on and I wanted to see if I could get some money for having my head shaved. Obviously I have done that and I’ve reached a great amount. Thanks to everybody who donated.”
