Hope Technology has submitted plans for a new research and development building at its Calf Hall Road base.

The high spec bike part manufacturer has submitted plans to build the 1,140sq. m. centre behind Hope Mill.

Also in the application is 460sq. m. of office space on the site of the former Northlight shed. The plan is set to go in front of councillors at Pendle Council’s West Craven Committee meeting on March 31st.

Hope bosses initially wanted to build on the recently purchased former Fernbank Mill site as the first phase of the ambitious velodrome project.

However, plans have had to be kept “fluid” because of its desire to entirely self-fund the development.

Alan Weatherill said: “We wanted to do something a bit quicker, to get on with developing and making the goods and it keeps the research and development closer to the factory, obviously as long as the plans go through.

“The velodrome is still definitely a planned project but it was just going to take longer to get going.”
