A Burnley street has been cordoned off this morning after a house collapsed.

Neighbours of the mid-terraced property in Herbert Street have had to be evacuated after the front wall of the house started to collapse around 4am.

Emergency crews are on the scene, making the area safe and have cordoned off the street.

It is not yet clear if the incident is related to the huge storm which lashed Burnley last night, with driving rain and winds of up to 80mph.

To help with the emergency operation, the fire service’s specialist urban search and rescue team from Chorley are on the scene.
