An injured workman was rescued from the roof of a Colne house by the fire service this morning.

Six fire crews from Colne, Nelson, Hyndburn and Chorley attended the scene in Penrith Crescent off Gibfield Road at 8-38am.

This included two specialist crews who were called in for the rescue after the ambulance service contacted the fire service.

An aerial ladder platform and crew from Hyndburn and the rope rescue team of firefighters from Chorley both attended the incident.

The man was rescued safely and was taken to hospital by ambulance. He is believed to have suffered a leg injury.
