the latest phase in a rolling programme of cemetery safety inspections was carried out by Pendle Council at Ghyll Cemetery in Barnoldswick.
The cemetery has a five-year programme in which the safety of memorials is checked and the tests at Ghyll followed earlier ones at Nelson, Barrowford, Earby and Salterforth.
A check at Colne Cemetery - the last one on the programme - will be made next year.
The council’s memorial safety inspector, Robert Careswell, said about 10 people had attended Saturday’s event and found it quite informative.
During the checks, the stability of headstones was checked using specialist equipment and a local mason was on hand to show people how faulty memorials were refixed to the required standards.
