A Barnoldswick girl is seeing gold after reading 50 books to secure her a top library reading prize.

Keen bookworm Iris Pye (8) turned the final pages on a series of books this summer to claim her Lancashire Reading Trail Gold Award for reading books at Barnoldswick Library.

Iris has been working towards gold from a young age and to achieve the certificate, she has had to review every book along the way.

Karen Hill, Barnoldswick Library manager said: “Iris has done really well.

“She’s been reading these books for a number of years now.

“It was her birthday this week too and she’s absolutely thrilled to bits.”
