A series of Lent lunches at a West Craven church have raised vital funds for the area’s food bank.

Barnoldswick’s Holy Trinity Church hosted six lunches across a six-week period each run by a different team of people, helping to raise £740 for the West Craven food bank in that period.

The church’s entrance room was decked out with tables and chairs and up to 30 people each week enjoyed a different home cooked menu.

Liz Grose, a food bank co-ordinator, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled. The lunches were great and the atmosphere was delightful.

“Every time we get a mention, it raises our profile and makes us more visible to the general public.”

The Rev. Diane Weaver added: “It’s an incredible amount. It was just a way of helping them out and people came in to support it.”
