Bankrupt ex-Burnley FC vice-chairman resigns
THE former vice-chairman of Burnley Football Club has been declared bankrupt, just days before resigning from the club.
Mr Ray Ingleby (47) appeared before a district judge at Blackpool County Court to face bankruptcy proceedings.
A spokesman for the Insolvency Service confirmed a bankruptcy order was made against Mr Ingleby. "As with all cases, Mr Ingleby will be expected to attend at his local official receiver's office to be questioned on the causes of the bankruptcy," he said.
He resigned last week from his role at the club after spending more than 10 years as a director at Turf Moor. Mr Ingleby was appointed vice-chairman in February 1999 when Barry Kilby took the helm.
Under the Football League's "fit and proper persons test", introduced in 2004, anybody currently subject to a Bankruptcy Order is banned from being a director at a club.
He previously formed the Ingleby Communications Corporation, which evolved into the New York-based Caribiner Communications Inc. until he returned to the UK.
