A brave woman who has just months to live fulfilled her dearest wish at the weekend when she married her beloved fiance in an emotional springtime-themed ceremony.

Primary school teacher Kathy Nutter (31) who was diagnosed with cancer twice in seven months, was watched by 200 friends and family, including her parents John and Marion Nutter, of Hapton, and brother Thomas, as she wed fiance Carl Morris at Bolton School in Bolton.

The couple, of Bridgefield Street, were forced to bring forward their wedding from April after Kathy was given the devastating news just after Christmas that her illness is terminal.

After she was given the news, friends, family and complete strangers rallied round to make sure Kathy had the wedding of her dreams and, after an appeal in the Express, offers of help flooded in.

Kathy, who worked at St John Southworth Primary School in Nelson until she became ill, wore an ivory strapless vintage gown, gathered at the side, with a birdcage veil and carried a shower bouquet of sunflowers. She was given away by her father and attended by friends Faye Ibbitson, who was chief bridesmaid, and Leah Massey, who wore dark green dresses with yellow sashes and carried bouquets of daffodils.

Groomsmen were the bridegroom’s sons Harry Morris and Lewis Morris. Archie Massey and the bridegroom’s son, Stanley Morris, were pageboys.

The bride arrived at the ceremony in a Jaguar while her bridegroom, whose parents live in Wigan, and who is member of the Manta Car Club, travelled to the venue in a Manta.

The couple had a three-tier wedding cake, which contained fruit cake, chocolate cake and sponge cake, and was decorated with green and yellow icing to echo their springtime theme and they had parcel boxes on the tables as centre-pieces at the reception, which was held at Accrington Town Hall. As they arrived at the reception, guests enjoyed champagne and canapes before tucking into a carved buffet.

Bridesmaid Leah Massey, who helped the couple organise their special day, said the newly-weds had also received lots of offers to help with a honeymoon,

“I’d like to thank everybody. We’ve had lots of help, everybody’s really pulled together, even people who don’t know Kathy. They have been offered a holiday cottage but I think they’ll just see how things go.
