Earby man's motorbike ride for charity
SIMON Law of Holiday Cottages Group in Earby is revving up for a challenging cross-Asian trip on a motorbike.
Simon is due to fly out to Bangkok, where he will start a 3000-mile fund-raiser with his brother-in-law, Chris Morris, in a bid to raise 15,000 for Severn Hospice of Shrewsbury and Christel House, a charity focused on breaking the cycle of child poverty around the world.
Simon and Chris will cruise over the borders of Thailand, Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia on their six-week journey while raising money for the hospice, which nursed Simon's mother during her final days battling cancer.
His mother, Beryl Law, died at Christmas last year. She needed constant care, which involved Simon's father Mike and his entire family, plus the dedicated team at the hospice.
Simon, who is the director of letting agency Holiday Cottages Group, said: "Training for this challenge has started and I'm looking forward to setting off.
"It will be a memorable experience and one which I hope will make a difference."
He added: "My family owe a great deal to the people who helped my mother, so this is our way of thanking them, ensuring the hospice has financial support to continue helping others."
