Kelbrook crash victim's family raise money for air ambulance
THE family of a Barnoldswick woman who was tragically killed in a road accident in Kelbrook in October, have started a fundraising effort to raise money for the Air Ambulance who attended the scene.
Mrs Winne Hoyle (73) was a passenger in a Nissan Micra that was travelling along Kelbrook to Salterforth when it collided with another car.
Mrs Hoyle and the driver of the car were both airlifted to hospital where she unfortunately died of multiple injuries.
Her family asked for donations to the Air Ambulance at the funeral which was held on October 29th instead of flowers and raised 270 for the cause.
Her daughter Sarah Lambert said: "We felt it was important to raise money for Air Ambulance as they came to the scene very quickly and often go unnoticed for their good work.
"Everyone who came to the funeral was very kind in their donation and Nelson Council have also offered their support to our fundraising.
"As well as saying a massive thank you to everyone who has donated money so far we would also like to thank Briggs and Duxbury Funeral Service, retired funeral director Robert Lambert and the Rev. John Lancaster who performed the funeral and service at Ghyll Church."
The family presented the cheque for 270 to Blackpool Air Ambulance last weekend and met the pilots who airlifted Mrs Hoyle to hosptial.
Sarah said: "It was a very moving experience and was good to talk to them and thank them for everything they did".
Mrs Hoyle's family will continue to raise money for the Air Ambulance and have set up a tribute page on the Air Ambulance website where people can donate money for the cause.
