Military funeral for soldier (32) found dead

A FULL military funeral is set to take place in memory of a Burnley-born soldier.

Samuel James Cunningham (32) was found dead where he was based as a Royal Marine in Chivenor, Devon, on Thursday, February 9th.

Mr Cunningham, who formerly lived in Robert Street, Barnoldswick, had been on active service, but had returned to the UK.

The funeral, which will be held at St Thomas’s Church in Barrowford on Thursday, will start at 12-30 p.m. followed by a burial at 1-15 p.m.

There will be a service bugler, Marine bearers and an armed escort for the cortege, as well as a firing party, who will fire a three-volley salute at the graveside.
