£2.5m investment in local nurseries
Breaking News
TWO nurseries in Colne and Barnoldswick have been bought by the Safehands Green Start Nurseries group.
The group has recently purchased six nurseries from Little Craft, five of which are in Lancashire. Safehands Green Start wishes to invest £2.5 million in these nurseries for “immediate improvements”, including re-equpping and redecorating the sites. The money will also go towards staff training and reward schemes. Green Start hopes these investments will go along way towards offering “a new lease of life to the sites.”
The two local nurseries that will benefit from this scheme are in Edmondson Street, Barnoldswick and Derby Street, Colne. As part of the expansion, Green Start is encouraging parents to take advantage of their offer of a months free child care “to experience the quality practice that will be on offer” at the sites. At the forefront of Green Start’s ethos is developing an interest in healthy food in children. They encourage children to help out growing produce and to aid the nursery staff in the kitchens, seeing their meals from “seeds to food on the plate”. Green Start also seeks to engage the wider community in its mission of environmental awareness and economic and resource conservation.
