A 35-YEAR-OLD Barnoldswick man who had sex with a schoolgirl has been warned he faces up to four years in jail.

Labourer Nicholas Alcock, of Gisburn Road, admitted sexual activity with a child, at Burnley Crown Court. He was ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register and will be sentenced on March 23rd.

The defendant, who had no previous convictions, was bailed for a pre-sentence report. Judge Jonathan Gibson warned him: “This is obviously a serious offence and you know what the sentencing guidelines say. The maximum sentence would be four years.”
