REFURBISHMENT work is well under way at Pendle Wavelengths in Nelson. The swimming pool is currently closed to enable a major upgrade to be carried out.

The gym, all exercise classes and Inside Spa are not affected and will continue to operate as normal.

The work will include the installation of new changing rooms, showers and lockers; the water slide is to be refurbished and better changing facilities are to be created for families and disabled customers.

The poolside area will be closed until Monday, February 18th.

Centre manager Quammer Iqbal said: “The work is on schedule and everything seems to be running smoothly and according to plan. All the cubicles and lockers in the changing area have been taken out and the wall and floor tiles are being removed at the moment.

“I can’t believe how strange the place looks and we are all very excited to see the finished product next month. I know this will cause some inconvenience, but I’m sure customers will agree it will be worth it.”

People can still use Pendle Leisure Trust’s other swimming pools at Pendle Leisure Centre in Colne and West Craven Sports Centre in Barnoldswick.
