Biker (48) killed in smash horror: police witness appeal

Police investigating a fatal motorcycle collision at West Marton are appealing for two vital witnesses to come forward.

The collision, which resulted in the death of Ian Barry Walsh (48) from Barnoldswick, occurred on the A59 at the Gledstone Road junction at around 4-35pm on Sunday, October 14th.

Mr Walsh’s red Suzuki motorcycle left the road and hit a tree after colliding with a red Volkswagen Golf.

His funeral was on Wednesday at Ghyll Church before a cremation at Skipton Crematorium.

Officers investigating the collision are urgently trying to trace two witnesses who could be key to their enquiries.

One is a male nurse from Guy’s Hospital, London, and the other is an Asian man who had a full beard and was dressed in traditional clothing.

Traffic Sgt Pete Stringer, of Skipton Road Policing Group, said: “I need to speak to these witnesses as soon as possible. They may have information that is vital to the investigation and I urge them to get in touch.”

Anybody with any information which can help officers with their enquiries is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option two, and ask for Sgt Stringer or Skipton Road Policing Group.
