BURNLEY and Pendle businesses can now surf the super highway even quicker thanks to a new wireless broadband service.

Telecommunications company Denwa has launched the Fibre to the Mast (FTTM) Wireless broadband, which it is hoped will encourage more local businesses to stay in the area.

Denwa managing director Rob Scott said broadband service in parts of Burnley, especially business parks, was currently too slow.

He said: “Broadband in Burnley and Pendle has not been very good due to a lack of fibre optic options.

“We’ve heard from a lot of local companies complaining about this. That prompted us to erect a mast near King’s Causeway in Nelson. The result means we can offer broadband 10 times faster than many providers currently.

“It is a superfast, reliable and low-cost alternative to fibre-leased lines which are notoriously expensive and cost prohibitive for small business owners.

“Where ADSL broadband offers speeds of up to 24 Mbps on download and 1 Mbps on uploads, wireless not only delivers a download speeds of 100 Mbps but also offers a minimum upload of 10 Mbps upload speed (subject to package chosen), making it ideal for VoIP and Cloud-based services.

“This enables companies to work faster and more efficiently and avoids companies relocating out of the area for faster internet access.”

Businesses that have already made the investment can use FTTM as a backup internet or to run voice services, mobile apps, hosted applications and social networking.

Denwa Communications, based in Barrowford, is one of Lancashire’s most successful independent suppliers of phone systems and superfast business internet.
