Colne woman jailed for sex with teen boy after Jeremy Kyle lie detector
A WOMAN from Colne who had been having sex with a teenage boy was caught out by a lie detector test from the Jeremy Kyle Show.
The father of the boy ordered Michelle Kay (40) to take the test, which she subsequently failed, when he became suspicious of her behaviour.
He then contacted the police and she was arrested. Kay, of Venables Avenue, eventually pleaded guilty to four counts of sexual activity with a child and one of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, on the first day of a trial at Burnley Crown Court.
She was jailed for two years by Judge Jonathan Gibson at the court, which heard of her two-year affair with the boy that ended when he was 16.
Miss Katherine Johnson told the court that the mother-of-two began the fling in February 2011. She said Kay licked some wine off the boy’s stomach before they eventually had full sex.
Miss Johnson told the court that Kay and the boy performed sex acts on each other on a second occasion, and then the third time in the boy’s bedroom when a friend of his was present and playing on his Playstation.
Miss Johnson said: “The defendant produced a sex toy before the boys and another sex act later took place. Photographs were taken by another child at this time.
“There was a fourth occasion when a sex act took place and finally in the summer of 2011 when the pair had sex. The boy told a friend what had been going on.
Mr James Heyworth (defending) described the case as “unique” and added that the lion’s share of sex offenders before the courts were men.
He added: “This case is full of unique features. It has followed an unconventional path. This was a case involving a sexually experienced teenager. She should have walked away.
“It is not as straightforward as an older woman teaching a younger man the ways of the world. There is a huge element of shame, and a real and genuine sadness on the part of the defendant.”
Passing sentence, Judge Gibson told Kay that there were repeated incidents and a breach of trust.
“I bear in mind that you are remorseful, that you have two children of your own and of the significant loss to your reputation.
“The sexual activity was consensual but activity of this kind is deprecated by society.”
Kay was also ordered to sign the Sex Offenders register for ten years and she was banned from working with children for five years.
